About Lisa

I began developing my career as an advocate for health and education as a young woman, receiving my Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Oregon’s Wallace School of Community Service and Public Affairs in 1982. I then began my studies in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, graduating from Southwest Acupuncture College in 1986. In 1997 I attended a course of advanced studies in Acupuncture and Moxibustion at the Beijing International Training Center in Beijing,China. I am a Licensed Doctor Of Oriental Medicine in the state of New Mexico and nationally certified as a Diplomat in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission For Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (http://www.nccaom.org).

I am a certified Emotional Intelligence (EQ) practitioner with Learning In Action Technologies (http://learninginaction.com), and a certified EQ Assessor with the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Network http://www.6seconds.org.

Always eager to learn more, I continue with post-graduate studies in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine as well as  advanced EQ and Mindfulness trainings.

As a Doctor Of Oriental medicine I specialize in internal medicine with an emphasis on long term chronic disease, women’s and children’s health, five element constitutional treatment, and food based nutritional counseling. Listening deeply and openly to my patients is a top priority and diagnostic tool. I see only one patient at a time. Allowing ample time for each treatment provides the opportunity to view each individual and situation with the depth and respect that true healing deserves.

As a dedicated practitioner for over 30 years I endeavor to hold true to the title of doctor which originates from the Latin word docere; meaning  to teach. I have been involved in education for my entire career through both one on one patient care and group settings. I was a full time professor at Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, New Mexico from 1991-2014. I also taught classes at the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts in Santa Fe. I am deeply dedicated to increasing my skills as a practitioner and teacher in Social Emotional Learning and Mindfulness Based Emotional Intelligence Education for youth and adults. I currently work with individuals, families, couples, small groups, teachers, leaders, and organizations—sharing tools for self-awareness and options for conscious decision making and change.

One of my greatest sources of passion and purpose as a health care provider and educator is to offer my knowledge and skills to support people of all ages in accessing and maintaing their unique potential and deepest wellbeing. Lisa Wilson

“I consider Lisa Wilson my health shaman. I find that I leave her treatments with the sense that I have been fully cared for on every level— the physical, the emotional, and the spiritual. She offers her attention in such a complete way that it is a rare and profound gift. I find Lisa to be a wonderful partner in supporting my health and wellbeing on every level.”

“My daughter has gone from using her inhaler several times per day to now being medication free. She is now on the girl’s volleyball team! Thank you Dr. Wilson for giving my daughter her chance at a normal active life.”

“I have been an enthusiastic patient of Lisa Wilson’s for several years. She observes, she listens, and she heals”

“I am being treated by Dr. Wilson for the side effects of an immune reactive disease as well as the side effects of the powerful medications that I have been prescribed to keep this disease at bay. When I first saw Dr. Wilson I was using antibiotics many times a year as I was continually getting sick, in the last year I haven’t needed to take antibiotics and my liver and kidneys, which could be compromised from the medication, have tested to be functioning normally. Thank you Dr. Wilson for your thoughtful and mindful care.”
